FoK hosts Spring and Fall Cleanup Days, usually in May and November, and all are welcome to attend! Trash bags and lunch are provided, but bring your own work gloves. Volunteers are given directions to problem areas along the creek, where they bag the trash they can, and haul things like tires and appliances to the roadside where the Town Crews can collect them later.
Over the years, FoK members have removed over 1000 tires, hunks of metal, appliances, broken furniture, countless bags of garbage and the occasional novelty item, like a 12-foot polyester snake and an inflatable octopus!
The good news is that there is far less junk along the creek than when FoK first started cleaning it up. The bad news is that there is still plenty of garbage for volunteers to fill their bags with on Cleanup Day. Come join us, you never know what you might find!
