Join in the work of preserving access to the creek
Volunteering with Friends of the Kayaderosseras is more than just giving your time — it’s a way to support a vital natural resource right in our own backyard. The Kayaderosseras Creek and its surrounding watershed are home to thousands of plant and animal species and have shaped the cultural and environmental history of our region.
Whether you’re passionate about conservation, enjoy hands-on work, or want to explore our local ecosystems with your family, there’s a place for you here. We welcome volunteers of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds — and we’re always open to new ideas and ways to get involved.
This page highlights just a few of the ways to pitch in. We also partner with corporate volunteer teams, student groups, scouts, educational programs, and more. Volunteering with FoK is a great way to introduce kids to the natural world and teach them the importance of local ecosystems.
In addition to volunteer work, we welcome opportunities for organized recreation, paddling trips, nature walks, and other events that connect people to the creek and each other.
Together, we can protect the Kayaderosseras, support its rich biodiversity, and ensure these special places remain accessible and vibrant for generations to come.
Help Keep Park Trails Open — Join the Weed Whacking Brigade
We’re looking for volunteers to help with trail maintenance at Boice Park, and others — specifically folks who can run a weed whacker or want to learn how. If you own one (or are willing to borrow one from someone) and want to lend a hand, we’d love to have you on the team. This is also a great opportunity for high school or college-aged kids to get involved and give back.
Boice Park Trail Steward Loren Grimm and his trusty sidekick, Eric Andersen, are gearing up for another season of weed whacking — and while they love the work, they’d love some extra help even more!
If you’d like to be part of the Boice Park weed whacking brigade, let us know. We’ll be happy to get you set up and ready to go. Together, we can keep the trails open and enjoyable for all this summer.
Join Our Summer 2025 Trail Crew – Help Keep the Kayaderosseras Beautiful
Volunteers are needed for our Summer Trail Crew — a vital part of maintaining the parks and trails along the Kayaderosseras Creek. Led by Park Steward Margaret Kinosian, this year’s crew will tackle a range of hands-on projects designed to improve trail access and preserve these natural spaces for everyone to enjoy.
Projects include trail drainage, setting stepping stones, bridge repairs, brush clearing, and more. This is a great opportunity for the entire family to get involved together — we welcome all ages and skill levels! Whether you’re an experienced trail worker or brand new to volunteering, there’s something for everyone.
We’ll be meeting Saturday mornings throughout July and August. Come to one event or join us all summer long — whatever fits your schedule!
Visit our Events page for full details or contact us for more info. We’d love to have you on the trail with us!
Become a Park Steward — Help Care for the Places We All Love
Park Stewards are dedicated, long-term volunteers who take the lead in caring for one of our local parks along the Kayaderosseras Creek. They regularly walk the trails, identify areas for improvement, and work closely with the Board and other volunteers to plan and coordinate upkeep projects.
If you’re looking for a meaningful way to get involved over the long term — and enjoy spending time in nature — consider joining a Park Steward team. It’s a great way to help protect and maintain public access to these special places for generations to come.
Interested? Get in touch — we’d love to talk with you about how to get started.
There’s a Role for Everyone — Find Yours with Friends of the Kayaderosseras.
We welcome anyone who wants to contribute — whether your strengths lie in the field or behind the scenes. Volunteering with us isn’t just about pulling tires from the creek (though that’s important too!). It’s also about writing grants, helping with fundraising, taking meeting notes, creating social media posts, planning events, and so much more.
Our board meets every eight weeks to share updates, plan upcoming projects, and use our collective skills to advance our mission: conserving, protecting, and enjoying the Kayaderosseras Creek.
While we’ve been a small team, we’re always looking to grow. If you’re interested in lending a hand on our board— in any capacity — we’d love to hear from you. Reach out to us to learn more about how you can get involved.
